According to discoverhappyhabits.com, in 2019 only 7% of those surveyed stuck with all their New Year’s Resolutions. And only 19% stuck to some.  That means 74% forgot them all, usually by February!

Resolutions don’t work for most of us. So how can 2021 be different?  How can you still achieve all you desire?

Let’s start with Clarity.  What do you really want?

Let’s say you want to lose weight.  Do you know exactly how much you want to lose?  Do you have a clear understanding of WHY you want to lose 10 pounds off your beautiful body?  Maybe you want to fit into your jeans from two years ago.  Or maybe it’s to improve your health?

The most important part of a resolution or any goal is the clarity that surrounds it.  First, fully understand the WHY. How do we expect it to improve our lives, increase our well-being?  What is the exact outcome?  Can you see it clearly?  Fully imagine every detail of what life looks like when it’s achieved.  Rarely do we take time to fully appreciate what is driving our resolution or visualize the end result. Without this understanding, we are bound to fail.

This is all part of a growth mindset and being able to shift your thoughts and behaviors.  You can learn more about Clarity in the 7-Day Mind-Shift program.  It’s Free and can definitely be a head start in helping you stay on track in 2021.

Second, do you have a community of support?  The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) did a study on accountability and found that there is a 65% chance of completing a goal if you commit to someone. That goes up to 95% if you have a specific accountability appointment with others.

Who is supporting you with your resolutions?  Who is holding you accountable?  A community of like-minded individuals can be the key here to success.  Developing relationships that keep us focused on the end result increases our level of connection with others as well as ensuring success on our path.

Not sure about your New Year’s Resolutions?  Maybe start with a vision board!  Vision Boards are a great way to gain clarity of what we desire and provide focus each day by displaying it in a prominent place.  Check out our Virtual Vision Board workshop on Saturday, January 9 at 12pm EST.  This year we are offering to all new clients for just $9.97!  Register here, buy your own supplies and then log on for a few hours of Creative Mindhacking!

2020 is in the rear-view mirror! And I’m sure many of us are glad to see it go.  But if we do the same things we did when we set New Year’s Resolutions last January, we’ll get the same undesirable results. So instead, say hello to 2021 with some new ideas for making it a year to remember!
